Star Fall Series

The SSA fall Regatta took place on September 11-12. The hotly contested event was sailed off the Annapolis shoreline just south of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Six Stars competed on windward Leeward courses provided by the Severn Sailing association and the weather conditions could not have been better! After a short delay while waiting for the sea breeze to fill in, Saturday’s racing proved spectacular, with 10-15 knots from the South. Wind shifts were small, however there was a tide change during the first race which proved to have a noticeable effect on the race course. After day one all six boats were very close in points.  Elliott Oldak was in the top spot with a consistent 2,2 with Bert Collins Close behind with 4,1 and Shane Zwinglberg standing at 3,3.
Sunday was a virtual  mirror image of Saturday’s racing and the SSA race team managed to get 3 races off in 10-15 knot Southerly. Bert Collins clinched the regatta win,  Shane Zwingleberg and Elliott Oldak close behind in second and third respectively.
A special thanks to SSA and all who sailed the event. The 2021 sailing season is slowly coming to a close here on the Chesapeake but we are looking forward to the 2022 season with great anticipation!
