Boat Storage For Members at SSA

SSA has lot, rack, and wet slip storage available for members’ boats. Club and Open Fleet boats with higher SSA race event participation have priority for storage spots. For complete information on boat storage policies, see Section II.E. of the Club’s Policies and Procedures. Storage rates are listed below the Terms of Agreement.

In order to store a boat at SSA, you must be a member in good standing, and submit an application for each boat to be stored (link below).

Annual storage applications are due by December 1st of each year. Lot, dolly, rack, and wet slips will be allocated across all valid applications by Jan 1st, applying previous year’s participation. Storage fees must be paid in full by February 1st, and before the boat is brought onto the lot. Late-payment fees will be assessed (5%/month).

All boats must be easily identifiable and labeled with the member’s name. This includes covers, trailers, and any accessories.

TERMS OF AGREEMENT

I hereby apply for boat storage for my boat at Severn Sailing Association and agree to abide by all Club rules and regulations regarding storage. I hereby release and discharge SSA from liability for any damage, loss, or theft to or from my boat or equipment while stored or docked on SSA property.

I understand that I am responsible for annual submission of an application to continue storage including a listing of all SSA sailing events I participated in to determine priority for continuing storage per Club Policies and Procedures, I also understand that I will continue to be charged for and agree to continue to pay for storage at the applicable storage rate until such date that this or any previous agreement is terminated in writing either by me or at the request of SSA. Termination of this agreement by me requires my removal of my boat from SSA and notice in writing to the SSA office.

SSA requires all boats stored at the facility to be adequately secured at all times when not in use. This includes properly storing your boat in its assigned space, keeping the boat and trailer or dolly in good working order, with properly inflated tires, covers secured and and supported in a way to minimize water retention, and your property easily identifiable.

I understand that I am only authorized to park in a space that has been assigned to me and that parking in a space that is not assigned to me may incur additional storage fees.

I understand that only the boat and trailer should be stored in the space: masts and spars should be kept with or on the boat and not left behind in the space when the boat is not present.

SSA is not responsible for the security of your boat during severe weather. All owners of boats stored at SSA are encouraged to make plans for removing their boat from SSA during severe weather. SSA is NOT a secure harbor during severe weather for boats in wet slips. We strongly recommend that boats be moved to a safe location in the event of a major storm.

I understand that my boat may be moved to another part of the lot for certain events and then returned to its assigned space, and I authorize SSA to move it for me. I further understand that for a major event I may be required to temporarily move my boat off the lot altogether. I understand that in such cases it is my responsibility to move my boat to an alternative storage location for the duration of the event. If I do not move my boat, I authorize SSA to move it for me at my risk and expense.

I understand that I may not assign or otherwise transfer to any other person the storage space assigned to me by SSA. I agree to notify SSA if I transfer ownership of my boat or if any of the information on this application changes.

I understand that I am to notify the office when my boat is leaving the property for more than 3 days and that in these instances, the space assigned to me may be utilized for other club needs including but not limited to: out of town regatta storage or temporary storage.

I authorize SSA to remove my boat from SSA property at my risk and expense, including storage costs, if I fail to have a valid storage agreement in force, if I fail to pay my storage fee in full, if my boat and/or trailer fall into disrepair, or if my membership lapses or is terminated for any reason. If I am applying for dry storage of a non-sanctioned boat, I agree to the following limitation of storage privileges: If storage is requested for a club or open fleet boat by another member and no other appropriate storage is available, SSA may terminate this Agreement with 30 days’ notice, in which case I agree to vacate my assigned space within the 30 days and accept a prorated refund of the storage fee I have paid.

I understand that acceptance of this application does not guarantee a storage space.
