Race Committee TRAINING DAYS
Race Committee TRAINING DAYS
SSA will be running a series of Race Committee Training programs starting on Thursday February 18. There will be 4 units that cover the basic parts of Race Committee work from new inexperienced members to PRO’s. A fifth unit will be training just for SSA Boat drivers. Each unit, except the powerboat session, will start at 7:00PM and run about an hour.
Given the limited RC work in 2020, changes to the rules that impact the RC, changes to the equipment on the RC boats and the need to get race committees following standardized procedures, ALL SSA MEMBERS are asked to attend.
Each unit will be presented twice as a live ZOOM session. A recorded version of the ZOOM session each unit will be posted on the SSA website.
The following are the proposed session topics and presentation dates:
Unit 1 Introduction to Race Committee - The basic expectations when serving on Race Committee. Beginning RC, new members and members who have not recently served on RC.
Joe Friebele, Presenter
Unit 2 Mark and Pin Boat - The basics of operating and serving on the mark and pin boats. For All members including PRO’s and DRO’s.
Jim Urban, Presenter
Unit 3 Signal Boat - The basics of operating and serving on the Signal boat. For All members including PRO’s and DRO’s.
