Pride on the Bay Sailing Regatta

While we hope SSA has always been a welcoming place, we know we can always do more--and better. With that in mind, we hosted the Pride on the Bay Sailing Regatta in collaboration with the Rainbow Spinnakers Sailing Club on Saturday, June 25. The regatta was for members of the LGBT+ community as well as other sailors who want to support and welcome new sailors to SSA-style one-design racing. Sailors competed in SSA's FJs and enjoyed four races in a lovely 5-12 knot southerly. In addition to trophies for the top three boats, four special awards were also given, including for sportspersonship and for best Pride-decorated boat! All the sailors had lots of fun on the race course and then back on shore, where they enjoyed the great views from SSA's deck, terrific food and beverages from the Snack Bar, and best of all terrific conversations and new friendships. Several sailors remarked how much fun they had--and are now looking for SSA members who may need additional crew for TESOD and other regattas!
