Updated Covid Policy: May 2021

Dear SSA members,

You are probably aware of the recent changes to Covid-19 guidance from the CDC, Maryland, and Anne Arundel County that remove some of the requirements for wearing masks when in public.  In line with these new guidelines, SSA has updated our Covid-19 policies.  Below you will find the current policies in detail, but the key change is that masks are no longer required in most outdoor areas at SSA. Masks will continue to be required when you are in the vicinity of the snack bar window, and at all times when you are inside the clubhouse.

We will update these rules again when there are revisions to state and local guidance based on changing public health conditions.  The improving Covid-19 situation in Maryland can be attributed in part to a successful vaccination campaign, which in recent weeks has seen an expansion in the number of places you can go to get vaccinated.  I have been fully vaccinated, and I encourage each of you to do the same so we can get back a more normal agenda of sailing and socializing.

Best regards,

Eric Johnson, Commodore

SSA COVID-19 Rules

These rules are in effect as of May 1, 2021.  They may to change depending on the state of the Covid-19 pandemic locally and nationally, as well as revised guidance from local government and health authorities.  Members must ensure that their children and guests follow this guidance.

OUTDOORS - Have a plan to stay outdoors during your visit to the club.

1) Members assume responsibility and liability for their own health, will take all necessary precautions, and visit SSA at their own risk.

2) Wear a face covering at all times while inside the clubhouse or while ordering from the snack bar.

3) In addition, please follow the six-foot social distancing policy at all times. Pay particular attention to this while on docks.

4) SSA has placed special red handprints on “high touch” areas around the club. Let us know if we need to add more.

6) Take advantage of the outdoor handwashing stations.

7) When parking, please understand that if you block someone in, you may have your car moved by someone you don’t know.  If this is a concern for you, please consider parking on the street as there will probably be space available.

8) The workshop will not be available except for official SSA business, so please bring your tools with you (as 99% of you do already).

9) If there are groups of 10 or more people congregating,  please practice social distancing and wear face coverings or masks.

INDOORS - The restrooms will be accessible during daytime hours.

1) If you need to use the facilities on the first floor (only the first floor bathrooms/changing rooms will be accessible), please continue to wear a face covering at all times, adhere to social distancing guidance, clean surfaces before and after you touch them, and spend as little time in the bathrooms/changing rooms as you can. Use those handy foot pulls on your way out. Look for special handprints on “high touch” areas inside, as well.

2) We will limit bathroom/changing area occupancy to three (total) per men’s and women’s areas.

3) We will limit the number of stalls/urinals that can be used- -for social distancing purposes.

4) The showers will not be available until further notice—as we need to minimize the amount of time members spend in changing areas.

5) The water bottle filler is available but please do not use the water fountain function.

DINING – limited to outdoors (any indoor requests need to be submitted to the Office Manager for approval)

1) Take advantage of the hand washing stations to wash your hands.

2) Limit seatings to groups of ten.

3) You may, of course, remove your face covering while seated and enjoying a beverage and food.
