Updated Covid Policy: Mar 4 2022

Dear SSA members,

As the Omicron variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to recede throughout the US, several local jurisdictions, including the state of Maryland, Anne Arundel County, and the city of Annapolis have eased their pandemic restrictions on activities, and specifically their requirements for indoor masking in businesses and government buildings.  Furthermore, the CDC has recently updated their guidance to state that indoor mask wearing is optional in areas where the Covid-19 transmission is low.

Given that Anne Arundel County and all of the nearby counties in Maryland, DC and northern Virginia are in the low transmission category, the Board of Governors has decided to lift the requirement that masks be worn indoors at SSA.

Based on their specific health conditions or household situation, some members and guests may still choose to wear masks for their own personal reasons, and I ask that all of you be respectful of their choices.

While we are ending the requirement for masking, there are some other general public health practices that should continue at the club.  First and foremost, if you are feeling sick or showing symptoms of a transmissible infection, please do not come to the club.  For now, evidence of full vaccination is still required for RC service and may also be required for other club or fleet activities, at the discretion of the organizer.

I truly appreciate the way our members have complied with the club’s evolving rules throughout the pandemic.  Your willingness to comply with these requirements has helped to keep your fellow members safe.  As always, the Board will continue to monitor the CDC, state, and local guidelines, and will update our policies if conditions require.

Best regards,

Eric Johnson, Commodore
