Weekly Wrap-Up
June 23: A spectacular evening for All even if you didn't catch the left shifts...
It was a record boat count for this year's TESOD season with 59 boats out on the water not counting the 4 420's taking Adult Sailing Lessons from the SSA Junior Program.
As one sailor remarked ' How many Commodores does it take to run TESOD?' Well this week it was two with John Quay and Joe VanGeison on the wind stick and Olie. Nan had a crew of Doug Palmer and Pete Zselescky who was making a stop at home before heading to New Zealand for a semester abroad with Duke University. The RC boats were kept busy with the 6-8 knot east wind lefties as the breeze would fill in from up the Severn River around the Naval Academy seawall. As the picture above shows the wind did finally die on the last race to sail, rock or roll home to a beautiful sunset.
The best move of the night was when Thistlers Brent & Kate Ostbye and James McKenna came rolling up to a start just in time for the gods to part the fleet so they could find a slot on port tack and roll through the fleet. Impressive! Also impressive is that they made it out to the race course after just returning from the J22 Worlds in Italy with Joe McCorkle's crew.
