Harbor Rookies is a one-week course designed to give the youngest sailors in our program an introduction to the Chesapeake Bay and sailing. Optimists are provided and instruction will be done with two sailors per boat. The class is designed for sailors ages 6-8. Emphasis will be placed on fun, teamwork, and enjoying the bay. Monday sailors will participate in a water safety and very introductory sailing games as they are eased into the week. Tuesday through Friday the focus will be on getting sailors out on the water and having fun. Very basic sailing skills will be introduced such as safety, sailing preparation, and wind awareness. The goal will be to get sailors comfortable with being in a new and exciting environment out on the water.

SSA Racing

Most weekends--and many weeknights--around the year, there's some sort of one-design racing happening out of Severn Sailing Association. Check out the calendar to see what's going on these days!

SSA Junior Program

SSA runs a year-round program to develop skills and a lifelong love of sailing in our younger sailors. A summer program and fall and spring high school sailing programs are just the tip of the iceberg.
