Lightning Fleet Summer Series

The Lightning Fleet 329 had a great turn out for the 2-Day SSA Lighting Summer Series 08/26/23-08/27/23.  Race committee did an excellent job of running the five races in White Hall Bay with shifty conditions from the N-NW.  There were six boats racing and three first time regatta participants…

This was an extra-special event for Lightning 14120, "Rosencrantz & Guildenstern”.  This was the first time, under new ownership, 14120 was on the start line, and had she two first-time regatta crew!  Ben Jarashow had Bennett Lacy as middle crew; Bennet is a an aspiring Eagle Scout hoping to earn his sailing badge (and we are hoping a love of Lighting racing) and first time in a sailboat!  In addition, Ben had his daughter Hannah Jarashow making her debut in forward and skipper in her first regatta!  When asked how she liked racing Hannah replied: “I didn’t get to drive, but I got to hold the tiller and keep the boat straight during the races!”

Our Fleet Captain Jonathan Lange, who often brings on new people to race with him, also had a first time regatta participant.  This was Henry Carlson's first regatta and he really enjoyed sailing with Jonathan & Michael.

It was great to see a strong showing our fleet and want to thank everyone who raced.  Congratulations to team Hurban, who despite several close finishes, continued to keep their strong lead and finished in first place!
